good afternoon in the news a rough flu season continues to take its toll, what we learned about illnesses in our area. >> but the big story on "action news" this afternoon is another coating of snow in the region. >> the snow came through in the lehigh county delaware and new jersey. lets go straight to the big board and meteorologist, david murphy, with more from accuweather. >> it's looking like this thing would dry up by noon and here we are at the noon hour and all the snow is off the cost, we have a little eroding snow shower northwest of allentown and reading you take a look at what happened this morning at 5:00, and we actually did have decent snow bands building in close to

philadelphia and up to 6:00 it looks like this first wave would go right past the city but it turns out that dry air at the surface prevented this from making it to the ground and it evaporated before it did much. we wind up with most of our snow down below the closer you went to the shore the higher the snowfall amounts and some action in the northern and western areas from a lighter snow shower that was occurring and you can see by the noon hour we are of course done at this juncture as we look at the snowfall amounts, these are close to finals 1.4 in black bird, and in newark only a .5 and smyrna 1.8 and dover 2.3 and cumberland county new jersey 2.3 and cape may 4.5 inches of snow. little or nothing in the central

to join isis, meanwhile the white house and british officials are not comments on muhammad emwazi. >> health officials in delaware announced there are three new flu related deaths and the number of flu fatalities does not appear to be slowing down, the total number in the state now is 26 public health officials are urging people to continue to protect themselves from the flu and keep up with proper hand washing can help. it's important to check in with loved ones that are elderly or have underlying medical conditions to ensure their health. the first shooting happened at 7:45 last evening on the 200 block of westmoreland street a woman was shot and killed sitting in the drivers seat of the car and the window was down

as the woman was making a transaction of some sort. an early morning shoot ngt grays ferry of the city turned into a double homicide investigation, police say that to 23-year-old men were shot multiple times the shooting happened after 2:00 a.m. and the police have no motives right now and commissioner ramsey commented on the violence this morning and he says it's unfortunate that there are violent people out there that settle their dispute with guns. >> we have 48 people dead so far in philadelphia this year, and 98% of them are african-american. philadelphia police are investigating an attempted carjacking where a man was nearly shot in the head, this happened in the 6700 block of guyer avenue in southwest philadelphia the driver and passengers were getting into a mercedes when two men approached

in miami 25 people were hurt in a complain reaction crash involving a city bus and an suv. witnesses say that the bus swerved to avoid hitting the suv and slammed straight into a furniture store several high school students were among the injured. the bus driver was rushed to the hop with extensionve injuries and the driver was taken into custody. an internal memo revealed safety violations and near misses many recent months. it details mistakes in the cockpit including a crew that had to make an emergency pullup to avoid crashing into the ground and another plane that landed with fuel below the

minimal reserves nobody was hurt and united told that all crew members must have their priorities straight when they put on their uniforms. an accident that wiped out internet service in arizona, someone cut a fiber optic line in phoenix at 6:30, nobody could make phone calls or go online and businesses could not progress credit cards and law enforcement data bases were not available as well. the slashed cable was near a river bed and whoever did this went through a long process to reach it. in new york city researchers are trying to figure out what caused a park garage to collapse. the building crashed on to a school bus parked below and the

david is here with a check of the accuweather forecast. and that storm what little we got of it. is moving away. >> it's out of here. >> we like it that way. >> we do. we actually dodged a bullet in philadelphia. stormtracker 6 live double scan showing a lack of precipitation across most of the region if we go in tighter, to areas up north, maybe a flurry around pottstown but most of that other stuff falling apart north and west of allentown, if you head towards pottstown or slatington maybe a little bit over the next hour or so. the action cam is over the

parkway and artists around the region are finding that multitude of ice we have around the region and doing cool things with it. i wish i knew the artist names that is really cool. temperature 29 degrees and winds 16 miles per hour from the northeast, and breaks in the clouds that is nice. 21 in allentown and obviously it's cold out there. but better than it was earlier this morning when we were not only colder but also snowy from areas near the delaware river on south towards wildwood. satellite and radar shows you the movement. storm system as it came through in the overnight hours and we got the top portion of that and it was not quite strong enough to work through the dry air in philadelphia, most of the snow that fell was down south in south jersey and delaware. colder in allentown 23 and windchills are a factor making it feel like the teens much of

the afternoon. down the shore we had the snowy start and a nice finish of 34 degrees, in philadelphia we go for a mix of clouds and sun the rest of the way today and getting up to 32 and winds from the northeast at 8 to 16 miles per hour. a little bit breezy and the windchills in the teens and probably low 20s most of the way today. partly cloudy and cold and the winds ease off and we get stars returning and an overnight low of 20 that is similar to where we went in spots overnight. as we look at the afternoon commute cloudy and breezy and 25 by 5:30, and 28 by 7:00, a little bit on the breezy side. tomorrow we have the temperature profile similar, with the same air mass in play we'll get up to 30 or so in urban centers and upper 20s otherwise and saturday another batch of cooler air and highs in the 20s then, your exclusive accuweather forecast,
